While Seawatch Kingyo is built like a DPS, she is really a support unit at core. Therefore, she can use a wide variety of support souls. Really depends on what the team needs.

If you are using a slower team and lacks Tree Nymph, SP Kingyo could use that Soul. Likewise, Soul Edge, Tree Sprite, Pearl, etc can all be used by her.

I would say the most popular is Fortune Cat because this having more FC in the team is always a good thing. It might even free up the orb supplier spot on the team.

The most straightfoward set up is ATK/ATK/Crit % since her heal and shield is dependent on ATK. If you are using Fortune Cat, I would say try getting more SPD. Other souls can focus on getting more Crit Dmg while having full crit %

Description

Raises the Move Bar on all allies by 10% and creates Fishtail Embrace for 1 turn. When Fishtail Embrace is active, and she is not unable to take action, heals allies by 50% of her ATK at the end of their turns. Also randomly inflict indirect damage equal to 50% of her ATK. Targets the enemy with Grudged first and damage increased to 100% of her ATK if attacking Grudged enemy. Grudged is consumed after.

This is a typical team to counter multiple Bake-Kujiras. Kamaitachi can make sure we move ahead of enemy Bakes and Hako Shoujo would use Retrace so the team can tank the first wave of whales.

Rest is straightforward since once Seawatch Kingyo activates Fishtail Embrace, Bake does a lot less damages.

This team is weak against Orochi, Otakemaru, combine with 2 Bakes, assuming Orochi is faster than Kamaitachi.

Shikigami Comparison

Sakura – Sakura and SP Kingyo both heal on the end of teammate’s turn. The similarity pretty much stopped there. SP Kingyo really took over Sakura’s role as healer in the fight against multiple Bake-kujiras. The reduction in non-critical damage is the biggest reason SP Kingyo is so good against Bakes. SP Kingyo can pull move bar as well as acting as a secondary DPS while Sakura can dispel and do indirect damage. In the current state of the game, SP Kingyo is definitely more useful in the face of so many Bake-kujira teams.

Verdict

Seawatch Kingyo is definitely worth building in my opinion.

She’s easy enough to obtain – everyone should have one from the 2nd Anniversary event. As long as Goldfish Embrace is maxed, she is ready for battle. This means as little as 4 Black Darumas or as much as 8.

She is one of the best counters against multiple Bake-kujira. This alone makes building her worthwhile. Outside that, she is not actually irreplaceable.

In case you did not notice, there is the easter egg that her stats are actually the same as SSR Arakawa. I think that’s a very nice connection given their story in the game 🙂
