Position 2/4/6: various

Orochi is a really versatile Shikigami so he’s soul set up largely depend on what the team needs.

For PvE, he can be seen using Fennikusu since the strategy is for him to turn all allies into Nagas and start doing massive damage.

In PvP, he can pull Otakemaru if given a high speed set. Or he could be given a high HP Sea Sprite set and act right after DPS. This way the DPS can attack 3 times with Kagura’s help.

All in all, there is a lot of ways to use Orochi. To identify what Orochi the opponent is using, one really have to look at his teammates. Usually, Orochi is built either with strong offense, fast speed, or high HP as support.

Sample Team

Kamaitachi, SP Shuten, Kaguya, Takiyashahime, Orochi, with Kagura

This is a pretty standard team that uses Orochi’s Unholy Force to pull Takiyashahime after she attacks the first time. The Kagura pulls again. Takiyashahime can attack 3 times in the first wave if there is enough orb. There are quite a few counters to this team but this set up ranks up in Duel quite fast if Kamaitachi is fast enough. Doesn’t work well in higher tier Duels so use with caution.

Shikigami Comparison

Maestro – not many comparisons I can think of but Maestro and Orochi both share the ability to give turn to teammates. They are also both very fast. Maestro takes 2 orbs to pull while Orochi does not need any orbs. Then again, nothing is free and Orochi would turn the unit into a snake in 2 turns. If a fast fight that does not expect to last, Orochi is better since the unit is immune to damage as well. In a longer fight where there would be more iterations, Maestro is better since the unit can keep performing.

Sample Gameplay

A sample PvE run below.  This was from a recent event.  PvP to come.

Verdict

Orochi has both PvP and PvE use so definitely worth building.

He’s easier to use in PvE since soul requirement is much lower. He can run through a few secret zones with relative ease.

In PvP, he’s more for fast teams to do a few attack waves right off the bat. For slower teams to use him, he’ll need some Effect RES to counter controlling shikigamis.

Overall, he is definitely a powerful unit worthy of your Black Darumas. Afterall, he is the arch enemy and the first unit with an SS in stats.
