Soul

Example: Jizo Statue x4 + Effect RES x2
Attribute Focus: Speed/Effect RES/HP

Discussion:

Jizo Statue is a strong defensive Soul that provides shields for both the Soul holder and the party members.  Jizo Statue can be used in both PvE and PvP.

Tree Nymph has a chance to reduce the enemies’ Orb and hence able to disrupt their skill sequence if multiple instances are triggered.  Tree Nymph is only useful in PvP.

Mirror Lady can reflect damage upon the enemies’ attack, but it won’t work as well while the party is linked as the damage is now shared.  Hence the reflecting damage is much lower but triggers more often. This is usually used in PvP modes.

If your team lacks Orb, you can use the Fortune Cat but it is not as recommended as Jizo Statue and Tree Nymph.

Having the party linked together increases the chance of triggering the Soul’s effect. Pos 2 = Speed/HP, Pos 4 = Resist, Pos 6 = HP.

Sample Team

Samurai X, Shuzu, Ebisu, Zashiki, Ubume

Being a Shikigami to share damage, Shuzu is used mostly in a counter build.

Some example lineups are as follows:

Arena PvP:

Shuzu, Samurai X, Kaguya, Momo/Ebisu, DPS X 1

  • Shuzu will split the damage among the party and Ebisu/Momo will heal.  This will greatly increase team survivability.
  • Being linked, Kaguya and Ebisu can trigger their passive skills to regenerate Orb for the entire team.
  • With the Senecio on Samurai X or Shuzu, as long as the enemy attacks they will be subjected to a chance of getting stunned.
  • DPS recommendations – Vampira, Kuro, Shuten Douji

Shikigami partners:

  1. Vampira
  2. Kuro
  3. Kamaitachi
  4. One-Eyed
  5. Ebisu
  6. Any other DPS Shikigamis using the Soul [Scarlet]
  7. Remaining DPS Shikigamis

Vampira and Kuro have a similar characteristic, and that is to inflict insanely high damage while their HP remains low. Without Shuzu’s damage sharing, they are easily killed before they can perform.

Kamaitachi’s active buff skill can provide addition resist so Shuzu will not be controlled easily, interrupting her [Trickle].

For DPS Shikigamis, Shuzu just provides higher survivability.

Acquisition

Summon, Shards (Guild, Demon Parade, Encounter)

Bounty

Soul – Stage Three/Eight/Nine/Ten has 1 each;
[Recommend] Encounter – Shuzu has 3;
Raid/PVP – Not common;
Bond of Momiji – Stage Nine/Ten has 2 each;

Shikigami Comparison

Shuzu is the only Shikigami that can link party members together to share damage, but there are other defensive Shikigamis we can use as a comparison:

One-Eyed possesses two active skills which create a shield for his team members, and could potentially reflect damage high enough to devastate the opponents. However, given the rarity, not many players are using him (except whales). In addition, these two skills consume 3 Orbs each, making him one of the highest Orb consuming Shikigami in the game.

Onmyoji Mobile Game - Shikigami HitotsumeFor the One-Eyed Monk, most players give him the Soul Edge Soul so he can protect other Shikigamis while triggering his damage reflection buff. This damage reflection buff is extremely deadly especially when the enemy’s AOE DPS Shikigami deals a hell load of damage.  This reflection buff can often result in the attacking Shikigami being dead or in critical condition.

Onmyoji Mobile Game - Shikigami KoiKoi seems to be a slightly nerfed version of the Ichimokuren with her shield active skill. However, her 2nd active skill can trap an enemy within a bubble, which is more strategic. As compared to the One-Eyed and One-Eyed Monk, she is more of a pure support and could not do sufficient damage to the enemies.

Verdict

Shuzu is one of the best support Shikigamis in the game.  Despite being an R Shikigami, she is very common in PvP.  The reason is simple: she has [Water Circuit].

Shuzu’s [Water Circuit] links herself with all her party members to share incoming damages. In addition, all party members will recover 5% HP during their turn. This is extremely useful when you face enemies who can one shot kill a target, such as Blade, Ibaraki Doji, Shuten Doji, Hakuro, etc.

Furthermore, having all party members linked together would mean that Soul effects which require receiving damage get triggered more often. Her passive skill [Unheard Counter] buffs the team with critical damage increase whenever they are attacked while linked. The increment is not too high, but it’s still decent.

There are a few Shikigamis that Shuzu is weak against:

  • Arakawa Lord – Recent updates have made Shuzu weak against the Lord as his active skill can break the [Trickle] link. With a superb Shadow Soul, he can one-shot kill any Shikigami regardless being linked or not.
  • Crowd Control Shikigamis – Being disabled will render Shuzu useless as she could not cast [Water Circuit]. This is why Shuzu should get the highest Effect RES as possible.
  • AOE DPS Shikigamis – Since AOE Shikigamis deal damage to the entire party, it does not matter if the damage is shared or not. However, with the Jizo Statue Soul, this can be a good thing because there are more chances to put up the shields.

Shuzu is an extremely good support which perfectly counters single target DPS (except Arakawa Lord). With its linking ability, Shuzu tremendously boosts the chance of triggering various Soul effects and Shikigamis’ passive skills. However, there are some that cannot be triggered by Trickle.  Here are some examples:

Able to trigger:

  1. Inugami’s passive [Protection]
  2. Ebisu’s passive [Reversal]
  3. Tanuki’s normal attack [Bottle Bash]
  4. Soul [Scarlet]

Unable to trigger:

  1. Seimei’s [Divine Lightning]
  2. Kagura’s [Divine Fire]
