Evolution Ability Enhance [Kiai]: Upon inflicting damage, Kisei has 100% (+ Effect HIT) chance to assign Black/White Go stones to enemies.  Each black Go stone increases damage taken by 5% and each white Go stone decrease damage taken by 5%.  Max 4 stones for each color.  If the enemy consumes no orb in that turn, one stone is randomly removed.  Upon Evolving, Kisei deals a bonus 600% ATK damage whenever an enemy has the maximum stones of one color.  All stones are removed after the bonus attack.

Discussion:

By the looks of skills, Kisei is a pure attacker.  In addition, he is not really ideal for PvP so our Soul suggestions can be more focused on offensive Souls.

Seductress – Armed with the highest number of hits amongst all Shikigamis, Kisei can greatly benefit from Seductress.  With that many hits in an attack, the chance of not triggering Seductress at least once is extremely low.

Shingan – With this Soul, Kisei can work as a finisher in the team.  This is preferred in cases such as Soul 10 where another DPS has cleared the mob so Kisei can just focus on the Boss with Shingan enhancing his damage.

Scarlet – Although arguably not as useful as the two above, Scarlet can increase Stone build up.  This ensures Kisei to be able to deal the maximum damage as often as he can.

Since we are building Kisei for PvE, stats are more straightforward and can focus mainly on ATK.  Position 2 and 4 can be ATK bonus to maximize his bonus attack that deals 600% ATK damage.  Crit % at position 6 is almost a must for Seductress but if you can get high enough Crit % with sub-stats, feel free to use Crit DMG to increase raw damage, especially when you are not using Seductress.

Sub-stats is the same story: just focus on ATK and Crit.  Not too much requirement otherwise except you don’t want him too fast so he can benefit from Seimei’s ATK buff.

Sample Team

Yamausagi, Ushi no Toki, Aobozu, Zashiki, Kisei, with Seimei

Kamikui, Zashiki, Ibaraki Doji, Kisei, Fodder, with Seimei

Tesso, Ushi no Toki, Futakuchi, Kaguya, Kisei, with Kagura

Kisei is one of the popular DPS for Soul 10.  He can partner up with Aobozu and Ushi no Toki to act as a finisher.  With the Ushi’s doll, Aobozu should be able to deal enough damage so that Kisei can finish off whatever is left on the field.  Another popular battlefield for Kisei is Totem.  Totem has been notorious for having high damaging and long-lasting Bosses.  Kisei will effectively reduce the Boss fight duration.  In fact, at high enough level and with good DPSs, you can even speed run Totem with good Souls.

PvP

While stones are not dispellable, Kisei’s random targeting attack sets him back in PvP teams.  If you really want to use him, I would suggest Scarlet so he can build up Stones faster.

Soul

As mentioned, Kisei is often used in Soul 10 speed run as a finisher.  A good Ubume would be a good choice to do the first wave of attacks.  Ideally, that would significantly weaken the enemies and Kisei’s 9-hit attack could finish the rest off.  Facing Orochi is where Kisei really shines.  With good enough Souls, Orochi should die in one round.  This significantly lowers runtime.  With good enough Souls, the team would have a place for one or maybe even two fodders.

PVE

All high HP Bosses are Kisei’s forte.  He’s a pure attacker that works with many Shikigamis.  Unlike Shuten Doji, Kisei needs Orbs so having an Orb provider is very useful.  If you are using Shuten in the team, I would say Ebisu should be good enough.

Shikigami Comparison

Onmyoji Mobile Game - Shikigami FutakuchiFutakuchi – Futakuchi is among one of the best PvE Shikigami in the game some far.  She’s random targeting but most Bosses are single target anyway.  Kisei and Futakuchi are pretty much the same in terms of mechanics. Kisei has more hits in his attack but Futakuchi has higher base skill damage.  In the grand scheme of things, Kisei comes up on top with his ability to deal bonus damage equal to 600% ATK.

Onmyoji Game - SusabiSusabi – As another prominent DPS with and 8-hit attack, Susabi competes with Kisei for a spot in Soul 10 teams.  With good enough Souls and proper attack sequence, Susabi can be very fast in S10 runs.  The downside is his animation is a bit too long for my liking.  He’s also a bit dependent on teammates which can sometimes cause problems when you form teams with people you don’t know.  Kisei is a bit easier in this regard where he can be treated like a normal DPS.  To me, Kisei is the preferred choice in many PvE situations against a strong Boss.  Susabi is more entertaining though.

Verdict

Kisei is definitely very PvE oriented.  He’s very similar to Futakuchi but has a slight edge over her.

Kisei’s main feature is the ability to do a bonus attack that deals 600% ATK damage.  With his 9-hit attack, this means he’ll be able to at least do that once per special attack.   Buffs from his stones cannot be dispelled so potentially he can partner up with Hououka.  Still, being random targeting means added risk to use him in PvP.

Overall, he’s a very straightforward attacker and has been a favourite in PvE Boss fights such as Totem.

Farming (2.5/5.0)

Even with that many hits, his special attack is not a reliable way to carry fodder due to randomness.  An exploration fight has 4 enemies so that means on average, he needs to take out one enemy with 2 hits.  His Divine Move has only 42% starting damage so is not easy to take out an enemy without triggering Seductress.

Duel/Raid (3.0/5.0)

PvP for Kisei is too risky for random targeting attacks are the most reliable.  Though, I could see he works as a finisher for Double Puller teams in Realm Raid.

Boss Battles (4.5/5.0)

Kisei thrives in single target Boss fights where his 9-hit can focus on one target.  His damage output will greatly shorten fights or increase your score in group Bosses.

Soul (4.0/5.0)

He is considered one of the best units for Soul 10 runs.  The main reason is that he can finish Orochi in one round, greatly shortens S10 runs.

Our Showdown Bidding dealer has finally become a playable character.  Even after so much coin scammed, I have to say he is one of the Shikigamis to use if you want to do well with PvE.  His requirement is also not that high.  He should be able to do quite a bit of damage at G5.  He’s also usable with no skill ups.  Other than summons, he is available through wanted quests and demon parade.  For those of you with Demon Parade tickets saved, use those up first and save Mystery Amulets for future SSRs.
