Discussion:

With such an offensive stat and skill set, Inuyasha is no doubt a DPS Shikigami.  We can focus on using offensive Souls on him while explore control options with his multi-hit attack.

Seductress – A natural choice for multi-hit Shikigamis.  In this case, Inuyasha has a 7-hit combo that can proc Seductress 7 times.  Seductress can compensate the fact that his low attack multiplier.

Scarlet – Even though Scarlet does not trigger Backlash Wave itself, the counter can trigger Wind Aura to increase damage and chance for transformation.  This would be a good choice for PvP with our favourite defender Shouzu.

Shingan – With a random targeting attack in his arsenal, Inuyasha is very suited to act as a finisher after enemies has been significantly weakened or reduced in number.  In this case, Shingan is the perfect accomplice to make sure enemies get taken out in one attack.

Claw – Claw is usually compared to Seductress being more PvP suitable than his counterpart.  The reason is that PvP usually has lower HP than PvE so Seductress is not as effective.  For Inuyasha, Claw is a good set to increase damage in general.

Temptress – Another option we can explore is the control Souls.  Inuyasha takes time to warm up so at the beginning he is not contributing much as a pure DPS.  Using control Souls will give him more value to add to the team before unleashing his damage.

Stat wise we are looking at the familiar ATK/ATK/Crit mains for DPS and we can switch in Effect HIT for control build.  With an A rank HP, Inuyasha is built to survive.  The only thing to add for substat is Effect RES for higher level PvP where Hannyas are all over the place.  Position 2 can also use SPD to increase his transformation efficiency.  At the end of the day, I would at least keep one ATK as main for Pos. 2/4.

Sample Team

Kamaitachi, Shouzu/Kingyo, Momo/Ame Onna, Ebisu, Inuyasha, with Seimei

Inuyasha takes quite a while to build up so ensuring his survival is our priority.  Kamaitachi is very much a must for most teams since he not only speeds up teammates but also increases Effect RES, which is invaluable in PvP.  Shozu continues to be our number one choice protector.  Though Arakawa will only get more common as time goes on.  You could try Kingyo instead to defend against single target attacks but do note she is not compatible with Ebisu.  Momo/Ame Onna/Ebisu are all good supports so your choice will depend on what the opponent has.  The team is built to ensure Inuyasha get enough turns to transform his Tesaiga and do real damage.

PvP

Inuyasha is ideal against turtle team that is built to drag the fight out anyways.  With Tesaiga’s final form, Inuyasha ignores shields, DEF, and decreases curable HP which is very damaging to turtle teams that relies on high HP for survival.  His transformation is a passive skill so is subject to Hannya.  This is a huge drawback at high level PvP where everybody has a good Hannya in stock.  Inuyasha would need teammates to ensure he does not get controlled.

Soul

With a 7-hit special attack, Innuyasha fit in as a finisher in Soul 10.  He’ll need to be the last in the attacking sequence when the crowd is wiped by other DPS.  Ideally, he should really be only attacking Orochi.  Therefore, his use is more to reduce runtime rather than playing a pivotal role in the fight.

PVE

He excels in single enemy fights in the same way as Futakuchi or Kisei in Boss fights.  Therefore, boss fights such as Kraken, Kirin, Totem, Orochi, etc. would fit Inuyasha more.  One thing to note is that his 7-hit attack has a very fast animation and is the preferred choice in fast runs.

Shikigami Comparison

Being a collaborative event Shikigami, Inuyasha is quite unique and is hard to find direct comparisons. In this regard, Kisei and Futakuchi is closer to Inuyasha in PvE while there aren’t really worthwhile comparison in PvP.

Kisei – This betting host is our latest favourite in PvE boss fights.  With a 9-hit combo, he replaces some of the SSR attackers in Soul 10, Totem, etc.  With two fewer hits in the special attack and lower attack multiplier, Inuyasha has a hard time competing against Kisei in PvE setting.  However, Inuyasha has a much faster animation so if you have good enough DPS for initial damage, he can save 2-3 seconds per Soul 10 run.  Inuyasha has a slight edge over Kisei in PvP just because Kisei is pretty much never used in PvP.

Onmyoji Mobile Game - Shikigami FutakuchiFutakuchi – Even with Kisei’s presence, Futakuchi is still a very good choice in many of the longer boss fight since she needs a bit of time to warm up.  While Inuyasha and Kisei requires no warm up to unleash the maximum number of attacks, Futakuchi offers high damage.  In addition, Futakuchi shards are farmable so maxing her skills is much easier than the other two.  In many boss fights, having a good Futakuchi is an assurance to getting high damage score.  This is something that Inuyasha could not do with his current skill set.

Verdict

Coming from such a well-known manga, Inuyasha is probably the most prominent collaborative Shikigami without exaggeration.  Though as we can see now, his performance falls short of the expectation.  His skills are unique and have the potential to do an outstanding amount of damage.  In reality, his Tessaiga transformation takes way too long to be effective so he is not the ideal choice to replace some of popular DPSs we have right now.  In PvE, he’s up against Kisei and Futakuchi, both of which are better at their roles than Inuyasha, though not by a high margin.  Therefore, Inuyasha is probably more used in PvE than PvP.  A few notes on his skills:

Wind Scar
– not dispellable but will disperse when Inuyasha uses Backlash Wave.
– Scarlet will have the same chance to trigger

Backlash Wave
– Tessaiga transformation cannot be dispelled and is permanent (until the fight finishes)
– The counter can trigger simultaneously with Scarlet/Dice Sprite
– Scarlet trigger does not decrease Wind Aura nor transforms Tessaiga
– Good for S10
– Potentially gets a copy of Arakawa’s skill to absorb Shouzu’

Farming (2.0/5.0)

While Inuyasha has an S rank attack, random targeting attacks are not ideal for farming.

Duel/Raid (3.0/5.0)

Clearly, Inuyasha is intended to do well in PvP with the many added effects of Tessaiga.  However, he is likely not going to be game-changing.  The main reason is the time for him to warm up.  With only a 10% counter chance, there is a good chance you need to wait for quite a while for him to have enough transformation to do damage.  In most cases, he should be able to deal significant damage once he’s able to ignore 40% of the enemy’s DEF.

Boss Battles (3.5/5.0)

I am a bit uncertain to the extent of Inuyasha’s Tessaiga transformation but since he is designed to do long fights, I would give him a vote of confidence in Boss fights.  With an A rank HP, he is much sturdier than most DPSs and would be able to survive a lot longer.  In addition, since Boss fights are long, we shall have no trouble seeing the power of a fully transformed Tessaiga.

Soul (4.5/5.0)

As we have seen, Inuyasha is very capable of acting as a finisher in Soul 10 eventhough the expected damage is lower than that of Kisei’s.  A very big advantage is that his animation is very fast.  To me, this makes up for his lower ATK.  Of course, the requirement is that you have good enough DPSs to place in front of Inuyasha so that he can take Orochi out in one turn when he acts.

All the analysis aside, we all know people will spend money to get him due to nostalgia or collectability.  That being said, I believe he is a bit underwhelming even though I would be amongst the ones to spend hundreds of summoning tickets during the event.  He is not weak but is more like difficult to use.  There are better DPSs in every category.  Of course, if Inuyasha is your favourite anime character, don’t hesitate to max him out.  There will always be a way to make him work.

This is just a preview of Inuyasha.  Will update again once he’s released for any changes.
